  • I encountered a Ford F250 pickup with a 5.8L V8 with a coolant leak this evening.

    I encountered a Ford F250 pickup with a 5.8L V8 with a coolant leak this evening.

  • We see a lot of water pumps, radiators, hoses, etc. that cause coolant leaks.  But the problem on this truck was due to a leaking heater hose tower.  This tower screws into the intake manifold coolant passage and houses the coolant temperature sensor and one of the connections for the heater hoses.  After 25 years of fleet duty, this tower rusted through at the small connection for the throttle body coolant line.  With the metal rusted through, the tower needs to be replaced.
