Shop Foreman Brent asked me if I had my camera with me today. I am learning to always carry my camera with me, so my answer was yes.
Brent asked me to take a few pics of the accident damage to one of our Chevy Impala rentals.
Some kind of impact occurred at the right rear of the car.
The impact put mangled the urethane bumper cover.
The impact forced the bumper cover downward on the right side which resulted in a nice gap between the bumper cover and tail lens.
It didn't look like the impact damaged the body of the car.
The rear impact bent the tailpipe on the right side.
This had to be quite an impact to bend the exhaust tailpipe.
The impact actually pushed the entire exhaust system forward.
The left rear exhaust tailpipe was also pushed forward, but not nearly as much.
The photo above looks at the rear exhaust Y-pipe as it passes under the rear suspension. The impact pushed everything forward.
More evidence of the entire exhaust system being impacted and pushed forward.
The photos above and below look at the exhaust in the center of the car.
Having this part of the exhaust pushed forward would indicate damage to the exhaust system in the front of the car as well as the rear.
