Read MoreSpring in northern Georgia has actually been quite pleasant this year. The temperatures haven't been too hot, but have been warm enough for a lot of roof-down driving. But even better than that, we've had a little more rain this spring than in the past. I like it when Mother Nature waters my lawn because I don't have to pay Athens-Clarke County extra for that. The wet weather does, however, have its drawbacks.
The above 1990 Dodge D250 pickup represents a surprisingly high percentage of the vehicles from our fleet - 20 years old, runs well, but wears battle scars from a life of fleet duty. It is my job to make sure these vehicles continue to perform their jobs for as long as possible because not many departments are getting new vehicles. What I see here is typical.
