Today's project involved replacing the heater core on a 2006 Ford F150 pickup truck.
The first step of the heater core replacement procedure on the modern Ford is "Remove instrument panel." The entire dash assembly needs to be removed from the bulkhead to access the HVAC case.
Thankfully, this procedure sounds more intimidating than it actually is. Ford put some thought into simplifying the dash removal process.
With the instrument panel sitting on the front seats, the HVAC case is easily accessible.
The case does have to be unbolted from the bulkhead so it can be slid rearward slightly.
With the case unbolted from the bulkhead, heater core replacement is a simple matter of removing the screws that hold the cover in place.
