Last week, I encountered a Ford F250 pickup that really needed brakes. This week, technician Phil was servicing a Dodge Ram 3500 pickup and made a similar discovery.
I described the brakes I replaced last week as, "about as far as you could go." I stand corrected.
These brake pads were worn to the point that what little braking material that remained was discriminating.
With this little braking material remaining, heat can play more of a significant role.
The edges of the pad had already begun to break down.
The new brake pads were quite a bit thicker.
Phil replaced the brake pads and rotors and all was well.
