We recently took delivery of a new limited edition 2008 Shelby GT500KR.
The GT500KR is a Shelby GT500 that has been upgraded to the limited "King of the Road" edition.
This car commemorates the 40th anniversary of the original Shelby GT500KR "King of the Road" from 1968.
This car is number 99 out of 1,011 produced in 2008.
It's also one of a mere 328 produced in Ebony Black.
The "Vehicle Not For Sale" note on the window sticker leads me to believe that this was a sold customer order.
The Shelby window sticker lists all of the additional modifications made for the King of the Road package.
In addition to all the interior Shelby goodies, (like the Shelby floor mats and headrests, and the short-throw shifter), this car also has Ford's navigation system.
Power comes from a Shelby modified supercharged 5.4L V8 that makes 540 hp. The cold air intake kit, special strut tower brace, and special fluid caps are part of the GT500KR package.
The Shelby lettering and Cobra badge are part of the King of the Road package.
The Satin Ebony racing stripe is also part of the King of the Road package. According to the Ford window sticker, the car came from Ford with a stripe delete. A Shelby Racing Stripe kit was added as part of the conversion.
Judging by the plastic still on the seats, it looks like this car just arrived and hadn't been prepped or detailed when I took these photos.
