Power comes from Ford's 201 CID inline 4-cylinder that makes 40 hp. The barbed wire spark plug wires are great !

The silver Bel Air (L) is modified while the blue Bel Air (R) is stock.
The silver car has a modified Chevrolet small block V8 under the hood.
The blue car has been restored to stock. With so many of these cars being modified, I always appreciate a stock restoration.
Power comes from Chevrolet's new-for-1955 "Small Block" V8. This was Chevrolet's first V8 engine since the D-Series cars of 1917 - 1918.
I'm not sure if the radiator insect screen is an original GM part or an aftermarket add-on.
1950 Mercury.
Thanks to the film "Rebel Without a Cause," so many Mercurys from this era have been modified. I find it quite refreshing to see a beautiful stock restoration like this one.

1965 Ford Mustang.
1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible.
This is the second of two 1969 Pontiac Firebirds in attendance today. This car has a Pontiac 428 CID V8 under the hood despite the fact that Pontiac never put it there. The installation was so well done that it looks like it left the assembly line that way.
1965 Chevrolet Impala Sport Coupe.
This is the second of two original owner cars in attendance.
The car owner ordered this car new from Meredith Chevrolet in nearby Lavonia, Georgia and still owns the car 54 years later.
In addition to the car show, the Crystal Hills Memorial Day Celebration features a short program dedicated to Memorial Day and all that it represents. The event organizers welcomed everyone and got the festivities underway.
The event always begins with the Presentation of the Colors.
This year, the Colors were presented by representatives from area Scout troops.

While I didn't get this gentleman's name, I do know he was introduced as a former director of the Navy Supply Corps School that was located in Athens until 2011.

Car show Awards Ceremony.
There were three categories of awards at this show: Top 20, class awards, and the Best of Show.
The Top 20 is a feature commonly seen at shows in this area, and is just what it says. Plaques are awarded for 20 of the best cars in attendance.
Trophies are also awarded for several special classes such as "Best Street Rod," Best Ford, etc.
The Best of Show awards are given to those who "Wow" everyone the most.
