As with all projects of this nature, everything on the car has been customized in some way. The most obvious modification, at least to my Mark II-loving eyes, is that the classic Lincoln spare tire hump usually present on the trunk lid has been removed.

The spare tire hump is now used as an informative display that details the modifications made to the car.

The guitar painted to match the car is a Squier Stratocaster. The V. C. Squier company was founded in 1890 as a maker of strings for violins, banjos, and guitars. The company was acquired by Fender in 1965. After a brief hiatus beginning in 1975, the Squier name reappeared in 1982 as the division of Fender's line of low-priced guitars.

Since Squier is part of the Fender company, it makes sense that the amplifier box in the trunk is a Fender. The "amplifier" is actually a custom cover for the air suspension plumbing.

The paint on the car is a combination of a PPG glass crystal flake product called Crystallance and many layers of PPG "Obsession."

Modifications continue to the interior. Like the Golden Empress seen earlier, this car has modified seats from a 1964 Ford Thunderbird. The center dome instrument cluster is from a 1960 Chrysler 300F. And the steering wheel is from a 1961 Plymouth.

A new Ford 5.0L Coyote V8 sits under the hood.

Perhaps the most intriguing thing about this car it its wheels. What looks like like a vintage 15" wheel with a wide white wall tire is actually a one-off custom 20" wheel. The wide white area is actually part of the rim.

This car was one of the Ridler Great 8 award winners from the 2018 Detroit Autorama.

The 1936 Pontiac named "Pindian" seen in the photos above and below is another Ridler Great 8 award winner from 2018.

One of my favorite aspects of this car is that the builder, Legens Hot Rod Shop in Martin, Tennessee, kept Pontiac's signature "waterfall" grill in place.

The "waterfall" grill and hood divider theme was carried over the roof and down the rear decklid.

The waterfall theme of the car's grill was applied to the interior.

The car in the photos above and below is a 1974 Cadillac Ectomobile tribute.

When people hear the word "Ectomobile," the first image that comes to mind is that of the famous 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance from the Ghostbusters film franchise. This car is a tribute built from a 1974 Cadillac Miller-Meteor hearse.

Car builder and owner Barrie J. Clark is a fan of Ghostbusters. In fact, Clark belongs to the Ghostbusters of North Carolina, an organization that celebrates all things Ghostbusters while at the same time doing a lot of work for children's charities.

Clark and his team spent more than 1,200 hours transforming a 1974 Cadillac Miller-Meteor hearse into an Ecto-1 tribute.

This car is pretty famous in the Charlotte area.

Power comes from Cadillac's giant 472 CID V8.

This 1967 Chevrolet Nova SS was part of the Best of the Best display.

This car spent a lot of time street racing before the current owner, John Flowers, found it in rough shape.

Flowers attacked his resto-mod project by restoring the body and painting it Prowler Orange.

Sitting on top of the Chassisworks front end is a 427 CID big-block V8.

The truck seen in the photos above and below is a 1970 Chevolet C10.

The truck went through a two-year "restification" process where everything was restored and upgraded.

This is a 1941 Willys from the TV show "ToyMakerz."

Rob and I headed back outside to check out more of the car corral and vendors. A trio of first generation Ford Thunderbirds caught my eye. The red and white cars are both 1957 models. The black car in between them is a 1955 model.

One of the subtle differences between a 1955 and 1956 Ford Thunderbird is the placement of the crossed checkered flags badge on the hood. The 1955 T-Bird had the flags on the hood while the 1956 model did not, (they were replaced by Thunderbird wings).

A beautiful 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air parked at turn 1 gives a good indication of just how steep a 24-degree banking is.

We wandered into the infield and spotted a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 on a trailer.

1984 Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds. This car is the same as the 1985 442 I had years ago with the exception of the shifter. Hurst cars had the famous "Lightning Rods."
