April 7, 2012: I traded the 2004 Jaguar XJ8 for a 2000 Porsche Boxster.

The odometer shows 58k original miles.

The exterior color is L3AX, Zenith Blue Metallic.

Of the 25 or so cars that have sat in my driveway at some point in my past, a total of two have been blue. Porsche's Zenith Blue Metallic is a beautiful color that is also somewhat different, which explains why I was drawn to this car in the first place.

I love the car’s lines ! The styling department did a great job of creating a unique look for this car while at the same time making it instantly recognizable as a Porsche.

This car features a matching Metropol Blue interior and convertible top.

In the rear of the car, the Boxster incorporates a small-ish trunk that is large enough to hold a small suitcase or overnight bag, but not much else.

The rear compartment is complimented by a larger luggage compartment under the hood. Engineers made the most of what they had to work with by mounting the spare tire vertically. This makes the compartment especially deep, and more able to accommodate larger items.

"986" is the Boxster body code. "L3AX" is the exterior color, Zenith Blue Metallic.

The top line is the car's VIN number. "986 310" is the Boxster body code. "M9622-65Y" is the Boxster engine code. "A8605-140" is the transmission code, 5-speed Tiptronic Automatic. "L3AX" is the paint code, Zenith Blue Metallic. "F1" is the interior code, Metropol Blue. The option codes are as follows:

The car came with a clean CarFax and 58k original miles.

The matching interior is called Metropol Blue.

The Porsche wind deflector is a factory option.

During a previous test drive of a Boxster a few years earlier, I referred to the seating as “firm” and “not the most comfortable” I have experienced. But Porsche engineers designed a seat that fits perfectly in all the right places. It is extremely supportive, especially in the lower back area.

And with that, I'm now officially a Porsche owner.

I spent some time cruising around Athens with the new Boxster, top down of course, and taking more pictures.

This is a cemetery located along Morton Road.

Once home, I took some time to get all of the “stuff” I kept in the XJ8 neatly arranged in the Boxster.

Thanks to the abundance of interior storage nooks and crannies, this was actually quite easy.

And naturally, I took more pictures.

At the end of the day, the Boxster looked right at home next its new roommate.

April 8, 2012: In place of the Seafrost Metallic 2004 Jaguar XJ8 now sits a Zenith Blue Metallic 2000 Porsche Boxster. Personally, I think it’s a wonderful change of pace. It looks great against the garage walls and its Carnival Red 1996 Jaguar XJS roommate.
