My 1985 Oldsmobile 442 was only a few weeks old when Dad and I went for a ride to Lake Raystown Resort in Huntingdon, PA.
The Blair County Antique Auto Club was hosting a car show at Raystown on this day. Dad and I decided to check it out.
The 442 was a performance oriented upgrade for the Cutlass Salon. The package featured a 307 CID V-8 that made 180 hp, a 200R4 4-speed automatic transmission, and a 3.73 rear axle ratio.
Dad enjoyed the ride.
The 2-door 442 worked well for Dad as far as ingress/egress was concerned. I used his portable lift to hoist him into the passenger seat. That lift would fold flat and fit in the trunk along with his wheelchair.
I loved this car ! The 307 CID V-8 was practically bulletproof, (the 200R4 transmission was not, however). It had good power, a roomy interior, a decent sized trunk, and offered 25 - 28 mpg thriftiness on the highway.
Oldsmobile produced 3,000 442s for the 1985 model year, making this car somewhat rare.
