This was a wonderful experience !

I told Heather that this alone was worth the drive to Colorado.

Heading east back toward Loveland gave me an opportunity to get some good shots of the foothills in the area.

I couldn't find a name for the peak shown in the photos above and below. But the topographic map indicated it was around 5,700 feet.

This region is, quite literally, at the base of the Rocky Mountains. The point where the "mountains" end and these "foothills" begin is very clear on a map. I know nothing about the geology of the rock formations. But they were cool to look at from a distance. There was another peak next to that one.

And there were a few more in front of me.

I pulled over at Rt 34 and S. County Road 29 to get a shot of another ridge off to my left.

I don't know the name of the ridge seen in the photos above and below.

If I read the maps correctly, this ridge is located near the Green Ridge Glade area.

According to the topographic map, the peak measured 5,628 feet.

All I know is that it looked amazing.

I started zooming in on the various rock formations.

This was great ! The drive reminded me of what it was like driving back from Salzburg through the Austrian Alps with my ex-in-laws. The plan now was to go back into Loveland and head north on I-25 to Fort Collins to check out the Anheuser-Busch Visitor's Center.
