  • In the photo above that looks downward near the radiator, I would normally not be able to see the ground. But I could now that the splash shield was gone.

  • The photo above shows the right side of the trim panel under the hood. <br />
The torx fastener seen in the photo is a guide for the top of the radiator. The impact pushed everything upward which resulted in the trim panel being cracked.

  • I hit the road heading eastbound on Interstate 40. Soon, I would arrive in Memphis, Tennessee where I would pick up Interstate 22 heading east to Birmingham, Alabama. The familiar Interstate 20 would take me the rest of the way to Georgia. But first, I had to endure a traffic backup on the western side of Memphis.

  • Traffic thinned out once I made it through the mess in Memphis. I didn't have a reason to take any pictures until I stopped for lunch at Love's Travel Plaza in Tupelo, Mississippi.

  • My picture taking came to an end after the photo above. I made it back to Athens without incident. Today's leg of the trip added another 533 miles to the Z4's odometer bringing the final total to 4,735 miles over a period of 11 days. And even in the face of a rogue truck tire tread, the car never missed a beat.
