Heather has chickens, which means she also has a plentiful supply of eggs. Most of the time, the chickens do their job quite well. Heather was gathering today's harvest and came upon this - an egg without a shell.
I know nothing about chickens or the science of eggs. But someone laid an egg without a hard shell.
The membrane that surrounds the egg was there, but the hard shell was not.

While it may look strange, it was actually a functioning egg and seemed perfectly normal when mixed in with breakfast.
Since you can't "crack" an egg that has no hard shell, I guess the better term would be that she "opened" the egg and added it to breakfast.
