  • I later discovered that I was zooming in on Courthouse and Jail Rocks, two well-known nearby rock formations.  Both were major landmarks along the Oregon, California, and Mormon Pioneer Trails.

  • I hit the road again and made it all the way to Mitchell, Nebraska where I stopped for lunch.  I also found myself waiting for yet another train.

  • I continued west on US Route 26 from Mitchell, Nebraska passing through the town of Morrill and Henry before crossing into Wyoming.  I stopped again to check out another historical marker outside of Fort Laramie, Wyoming.

  • This marker mentions the Cheyenne - Black Hills Trail, another stagecoach trail that allowed access to the gold fields in the Black Hills of South Dakota.  This trail originated in Cheyenne, Wyoming and passed near this point on its way to Deadwood, South Dakota.
