My friend Danita and I were heading out to dinner on this beautiful Saturday evening. With my roof always being down, it wasn't hard to notice what seemed to be a large amount of birds overhead.
Traffic within her neighborhood is always very light. So I stopped in the middle of the road to take a few pics.
My guess it this is a gathering of vultures, although I'm not entirely sure.
This camera's 35x optical zoom lens comes in handy in situations like this.
I'm not a pro at this photography thing. So I did what I thought would work and hoped for the best.
The "Sports" mode on the dial can be used for shooting subjects in motion. All I had to do is follow the birds while they are in flight, which is A LOT harder than it seems.
Even so, I managed to get a few decent shots.
They aren't the clearest pics I've ever taken. But this is the best I can expect with this style camera.
Some cropping and processing produced a few decent shots.
With no traffic in the neighborhood, we hung around to watch the birds for a while.
I kept zooming and following.
I think I've encountered the limitations of this camera's lens and sensor.
Not bad, overall.
Decent picture.
The photo above shows a surprising amount of detail considering how far away these birds were from the camera.
There seemed to be at least 20 birds in the air at any given moment.
