  • Stuff is growing quite well beside the driveway. The Creeping Phlox I moved a week ago are still green, which is a good sign. I only managed to get a couple of flowers from the Daffodils in the foreground. The other Daffodils I planted by the Crocus plants did well. And I'm starting to see the tulips appear.

  • The Korean Azalea looks quite sparse as far as leaves go. But it's producing flowers.

  • The azalea next to the street at the end of the driveway has always been the first to bloom each spring. It appears to be waking up right on schedule.

  • One half of the large azalea cluster is pink, and the other is white. The white half is preparing to bloom as well.

  • I planted 5 Goldmound Spirea shrubs last year. After not seeing any kind of activity at all, I now find some green appearing. So they're doing ok.

  • The Coronation Gold Yarrow shrubs looked like the Goldmound Spirea from earlier in that they looked dead for a long time. Seeing green is a good sign.

  • I bought this Persian Lilac last fall because it was on sale, (50% off !). Seeing it awaken makes me smile.

  • I planted these three Japanese Boxwood shrubs in 2012. They've done well in this location, and seem to be a good size for the available space.

  • The first order of business for today was to move the small azalea shown above. Originally, this small shrub sat in my side yard completely surrounded by English Ivy. I moved it out of there to where I have the other azaleas next to the driveway. It survived the move, but never really grew. This year, I decided to try another location and see what happens.

  • I said I wasn't going to plant anything new until I got everything cleaned up. That plan lasted until I saw a bunch of Reeves Spireas at Lowe's. I love the spirea I have at the mailbox, and thought these would look great in the yard as well.
