  • The Otto Luyken Cherry Laurel is definitely much happier in its new home.  Comparing the way it looks now to when I moved it to this location in September 2019 reveals quite a bit of growth.

  • I was afraid of this.  The Variegated Shell ginger doesn't appear to be as tolerant of the cold as other plants in the yard.  We've encountered a series of cold nights lately.  And while its still alive, the upper leaves are definitely showing the effects of the cold.  I'll have to do some research to see what this means.

  • Just like the new Pink Snow camellias in the side yard, the Mine No Yuki camellias by the patio are also blooming.

  • The plan for today was to continue removing the English Ivy from the side yard.  I first turned my attention rearward from the new camellias.

  • Even though it's been here for years, the English Ivy didn't migrate rearward too far or too thick.  My guess is that this has something to do with all of the shade in this spot.  This made removal much easier.

  • I then turned my attention forward of the Pink Snow camellias.  The ivy was much thicker and much more entrenched in this area, especially in between the trees.

  • I kept digging through the leaves and pine needles and pulled everything I could see and feel until I ran out of energy.  But I think I still have a bit more lurking under all the debris.

  • The next Leaf & Limb collection which will occur sometime in mid-December.  It looks like the second ivy pile which started growing earlier in November will grow a little bit more.
