  • Today was the day to finish cutting back the Yellow Flag irises for the winter.  But first, I took a walk around the yard to see what I could see.

  • I still have one bloom on the Chinese Snowball.  However, a few recent cold nights have taken their toll.

  • It looks like the white blooms are starting to turn brown thanks to some cold nights.

  • I've also been continuing to remove English Ivy from the side yard, and now have a second ivy pile for Leaf & Limb collection.  Truth be told, I piled ivy too high on the first pile which caused some of it to topple over, thus creating a second pile.

  • I've also continued to add mulched leaves by the Illicium Pink Frosts and Pieris Snowdrift.

  • I got all of the large iris area cut back.

  • I then headed to the center section of irises and cut them back.

  • And finally, I got everything cut back at the pine tree and camellia cluster.  With the iris cutting complete, the only project left for this year is to finish removing the English Ivy from the side yard.  Other than that, basic maintenance and keeping the leaves and pine needles mulched should keep me busy until the start of next season.
