May 22: Moving more irises . . .
Read MoreNot long after my then-wife and I moved to Athens, she came home from work with a plant. If I remember right, the plant seen in the photo above was in sad shape and was going to be thrown out. She brought it home to see if we could save it.
More than a decade later, the Thanksgiving Cactus is still alive and resides in my dining room. It has, however, seemed to be on a steady decline over the last few years. I thought it would be a good idea to bring it outside for the summer where the sun could work its magic. Hopefully, the squirrels will leave it alone.After I moved a few of the Yellow Flag Irises away from the camellia cluster last weekend, it became clear that I really need to move more of them. The camellias have grown quite a bit and have encroached on the nearby irises. I decided to move a bunch of them in an effort to give the camellias more space.
