I had a couple of small projects scheduled for today. But first, I took my usual stroll around the yard. The Japanese Maple tree is definitely turning green, and becomes less red each week.
So far, so good for all of the new residents from last month.
I see a lot of purple blooms on the Goldmound Spireas.
I've even got a Happy Returns Daylily bloom at the maple tree.
Happy Returns Daylily.
For whatever reason, some of the Husker Red Beardtongues are bigger than others. But they all bloom, which is fine by me.
The first project for today was to do some weeding around the edge of the transplanted Monkey grass.
What passes for "grass" in this part of the yard is actually just a giant bed of weeds. I decided to create a dividing line between the Monkey grass and regular grass by removing some of the weeds.
The other project for today involves filling in a few bare spots in the Yellow Flag Irises.
I noticed earlier this year that as the camellia cluster grows and expands, it crowds the irises that surround it. Today, I took a few of the irises closest to the camellias and relocated them to other areas where a bare spot exists.
The camellia cluster has grown quite a bit since I planted irises around it back in 2019. I see where the camellia has overtaken the innermost row of irises. I broke out the shovel and started moving.
I had several bare spots around the pine tree and transplanted a few irises to fill them in.
I also found several areas in the center section of irises that had some available space and filled them in as well.
