Time to get started with the spring mulch project. But first, I took my usual walk through the yard.
Mixed in with the daffodils are these two small plants which are, I think, blue bells. But I'm not entirely sure.
I still have a few daffodils blooming.
The dark red side of the Japanese Camellia looks good. The pink side seems to have peaked for the season.
The Reeves Spireas are turning green.
I'm not sure about the Eleanor Tabor Indian Hawthorn. Even though it looks dead, I still see a lot of green at the base of the shrub.
The Star Magnolia looks great.
I don't have a lot of hope for the dogwood tree I relocated from the backyard last year.
Another view of the Japanese Camellia.
Bridal Wreath Spirea.
I appear to have overlooked a couple of daffodils. A lot of them were planted in this location when I moved in back in 2009. I'll move these stragglers to the area by the garage after they're done blooming.
The driveway azaleas should be starting to bloom very soon.
The fourth azalea in line, (the small relocated azalea from the other side of the yard), is blooming first like it always does.
Time to get started spreading mulch. I made a few trips to Lowe's to get black mulch first. The Jag can only hold 5 bags at a time in the trunk.
It's a good thing Lowe's is close by.
I started spreading the black mulch.
Just like last year, all of the individual plants will get black mulch.
The iris path will get red mulch later.
I spread black mulch around all the individual plants.
This includes the gifted palm tree I got a couple of years ago from a neighbor.
In total, I got 26 bags of mulch today.
That was enough to cover almost all of the individual plants.
I ran out at the ornamental grasses. I'll get 5 more bags next week and finish this part of the project.
