March 2: The Pieris Snowdrift and two Illicium Pink Frosts arrived in October 2014. They're supposed to like shade, which is why I planted them in the backyard.
I've discovered two things over the last five years: a) The Illicium Pink Frosts have a serious drinking problem, (I didn't notice the water requirements on the tags beforehand), and b) There appears to be a lot of wiggle room with the interpretation of the word "shade." In terms of when you see it on a plant's tag, the word "shade" can mean "filtered sunlight" to happy-in-the-shadow-of-a-large-tree and EVERYTHING in between. The Illicium Pink Frost on the left of the photo above is noticeably larger than the one on the right. Take a guess at which one gets more sunlight.
