  • I've spoken several times this season about the mess of "mystery bulbs" planted with the rose bushes. For reasons I no longer remember, I decided a couple of years ago to randomly plant a bunch of unknown bulbs hoping that something would appear. Unfortunately, the only thing that appeared was chaos. By July of this year, my eyes finally had enough which motivated me to clear everything out of that area. At this point, I have no idea what to do here. But I'm not concerned, and plan on leaving it this way for a while. Maybe the best option would be to spread some landscape fabric and fill the space with mulch.

  • This means I now have several bulbs that need a new home.

  • What started out as a large area with 5 Super Blue Lavender plants in 2015 had morphed into a much smaller area this season with one sad-looking plant remaining. And while there was some hope in the form of a few blue flowers, the last Super Blue Lavender died shortly thereafter.

  • Two of these bulbs bloomed earlier this year. Maybe moving them to a sunnier location in the yard will encourage more. Or perhaps, all I've done is move the chaos from one location to another. Time will tell.
