Today's project was to do some more spring cleaning. But before getting started, I couldn't help but notice the intense pollen.
The pollen was starting to accumulate last weekend, and is becoming a little more intense today.
I've learned that this happens every spring around here. I encountered pollen growing up in Pennsylvania, but not on this scale.
The Japanese camellia began blooming back in February, and still looks great today.
I broke out the mower and ground up any remaining debris in the yard.
The October Glory maple tree is waking up for the season.
This is good to see. The maple tree drops everything over the winter, and I can't tell if it's alive. Seeing it wake up is good.
The Sweetgum tree is turning green. My experience has been that once it starts to wake up, it only takes 3 - 4 weeks to fully turn green.
The star of this show currently is the flowering cherry tree. I love the way it towers over the garage roof.
Everything I did at the mailbox a couple of weeks ago looks good.
The first azalea cluster looks great !
The pink half always blooms first.
We've reached the point where the white half is caught up, and the pink half is still in full bloom.
I see a few dark red blooms starting to appear on the second azalea.
The third azalea is starting to bloom.
The fourth azalea is also blooming. I need to do some more pruning and shaping on this wild looking shrub.
The fifth azalea looks great.
Driveway azaleas look great this year.
I had to take another look at the beautiful cherry tree while heading into the backyard.
The cherry tree looks great this year.
As the cherry tree finishes blooming, the petals will fall to the ground and give the appearance of snow. And since I hate winter, this is the only kind of "snow" I like.
Everything I've planted in the backyard is doing well so far.
The Heavenly Bamboo garden is doing well.
But these shrubs are virtually indestructible.
Since I was spring cleaning, I also did some trimming in the backyard.
A blurry view of the flowering cherry tree.
I haven't paid any attention to this before. But I see another flowering tree on the property line between me and my neighbor. Not sure what this is, but it looks nice.
All is well with the new cherry laurel and palm trees.
The new Windmill palm tree.
The new Pindo palm tree.
The new Otto Luyken Cherry Laurel.
I walked further into the backyard and said hello to my neighbor.
There are a couple of redbud trees near the neighboring fence.
After several passes with the mower, I had a wall full of bags ready for the next Leaf & Limb collection.
