November 22, 2013: New goodies for the garage . . .

 • The garage at my house was not actually a "garage" when I moved in during 2009. It had no door which officially made it a "carport." The first thing my wife and I did was have a door installed. Since then, I've made several functionality improvements including adding some shelves in 2011. Earlier this spring, I expanded the wall storage setup by adding more shelves and a storage cabinet.
Last month, I bought myself a creeper. As strange as it sounds, I've never had a creeper before only because I've never had a garage where I can actually "work" before. With this garage being large enough and having a cement floor, I hung a creeper on some recently installed storage shelves for the first time in my life.

 • I was browsing last week through the local Tractor Supply checking out the gas-powered weed-eaters, (the rechargeable battery is dying on the one I have), and the air compressors, (they carry Ingersoll Rand !). Something interesting in a corner got my attention.

 • Whether it be tools, cars, household items, etc., I've learned to always keep an eye out for a great deal. And I'm not talking about a typical "sale" that occurs with regularity at the local department store. My idea of a great deal usually involves the words "Clearance," "Open Box," or "Lightly Used." I remember buying my first HD television at Circuit City in Columbia, Missouri back in 2005. This rather typical for the era 30-inch Samsung seen in the photos above and below was tucked away in a far corner.

 • The words "Open Box" on the tag caught my eye. It was a new item that had been returned immediately after purchase. Somewhere along the line, it was damaged. I suspect that whoever was attempting to carry this monster wasn't aware of just how heavy it was, hence the damage. It weighs 135 pounds according to the specs ! My back agrees.

 • This was an $800 TV when new. But thanks to the damage seen in the photos, my price on that day in 2005 was $369.

 • This Masterhand roll cart followed that same pattern. Sticky-taped to the top of the box was that magic word "Clearance." This also happened to be the only one remaining. The retail price on this roll cab was $330. It had been marked down once previously to $300.

 • The sign sitting on it today said $99.99. So why the huge markdown ? One reason could be that I'm reading where the Masterhand brand may have been discontinued. Masterhand was exclusive to Tractor Supply, but appears to have been replaced by the JobSmart brand that now appears in all of the company's advertisements.
Another reason for the markdown involved the disappearance of the keys. This roll cab sat in a corner for a while, during which time the keys disappeared. My local lock & key shop quickly remedied this issue.
Either way, it sounded like this box had to go to make room for new arrivals, which was fine by me ! It was priced accordingly, so I brought it home.

 • The only thing left for me to do was install the handle.

 • After I installed the included drawer liners, I filled it with tools and parked it along the wall of the garage.
